Maeghen Allen, Worship Coordinator

Maeghan is an island girl, born and raised in Souris, Prince Edward Island. She moved to Moncton, New Brunswick in 2012 to attend Crandall University and began as an intern at Hillsborough Baptist Church. She assisted with youth group, mentoring the youth through their faith journeys. She has always had a passion for children and youth ministry and has come a long way from the timid, shy girl teaching children’s stories at the beginning of her internship.

Maeghan is now graduated from the Bachelor of Science program and has received a Youth Leadership Certificate from Crandall University.

Maeghan has taken part in several missions teams to Antigua and Barbuda, Jamaica, New York City and the Czech Republic. She is excited about what God is doing in Hillsborough and Albert County.

Maeghan started as a volunteer on the worship team at Hillsborough Baptist and is now the lead worship coordinator. She has always had a strong love for music and some of her best memories are when she and her two younger sisters would gather around the piano in the living room of their childhood home and sing songs together. She definitely never imagined it would lead to singing on a stage…in front of people! She knows God’s plan is always one more adventurous than you will ever imagine on your own, if you let Him lead. Maeghan was excited when the opportunity came to lead worship and counts it a privilege to be a part of bringing others into the presence of God, and ministering to people through music.

Maeghan is creative and loves to use her gifts whenever possible.  She was recently involved with a project making a giant cassette tape out of wood and duct tape, used as a prop for a message series.

She also loves lattes, puppies, the sea and the sunshine.

Jillian Melanson, Director of Discipleship

Jillian Melanson started with the team in January 2019 as Director of Discipleship. Always one for adventure, she is excited to see where the Lord will take her on this new journey. Originally from Oakland, and later Woodstock New Brunswick, Jillian left her home town to study Business and Religious studies at Atlantic Baptist University in 2008. It did not take long for her to fall in love with Moncton and the surrounding area; so, after graduation in 2012, she chose to stay and find work in the city. The following year, her and Zachary Melanson met and began dating shortly after that. Married in 2015, the two lived in the city but both felt drawn to the Hillsborough area. After a year of prayer and searching, Jillian and Zachary Melanson moved to the are in the fall of 2016 where they quickly found a home at both their house on Academy and Hillsborough Baptist Church. Outside of the church, they both enjoy hiking, camping, and the outdoors but Jillian also likes travelling, eating out, and her pet parrot BooBoo.

Brenda Hawkes, Prayer Coordinator

Brenda has been championing prayer for many years since accepting Jesus as her Savior in 1994. While attending special meetings at Hillsborough Baptist Church in 2005, with guest speaker Gerhardt DuToit from Canadian Revival Fellowship, she sensed a deeper call to corporate prayer. Following, while attending a meeting of The Maritime House of Prayer, and upon hearing their desire to see lighthouses of prayer throughout the Maritimes, she & her husband, David, began leading Community Days of Prayer (originally called Tides of Revival) in churches along Route 114, for several years.  She has also served as co-chair with David, of Hillsborough Baptist's  Prayer Committee and then chair, for a number of years before stepping into the role of Prayer Coordinator.

Currently, she is lead of the Vision/Mission Team of the Albert Association of Baptist Churches. As such, she is also team lead of a regional prayer movement called Rising Tide, a grassroots movement towards spiritual awakening and growing in intimacy with Him. (rtprayer.com)

As part of her journey, her heart’s desire is to see the greater church, and more specifically, Hillsborough Baptist, be “A House of Prayer”:  Isaiah 56:7, Matthew 21:13, Mark 11:17, Luke 19:46. As prayer coordinator, she will be working with Pastor Geoff, towards this goal, and to see our church grow in more intimacy with Our Lord.
