Using Your Gifts

Which one of these super gifted people are you?

We all have something to offer. We all have something to give. What are your gifts? Where does God want you to serve in the body? How can you be making a difference for Jesus Christ in our church, our community, and in our world one life at a time if we aren’t being intentional?

I had a pastor friend who once told me that the opportunity was given to him to preach crusades in Nigeria, Africa. He saw many miracles and was flabergasted that God would choose to use him in this way. He knew he wasn’t worthy and didn’t surmise that the miracles happened because he was so holy. So he asked God.. “Why Me?”

What he told me may rock your world….

God replied, “I asked many men who had greater gifts than you, but they each in turn said no. Then when I asked you, your answer was YES!” Our availibility gives God an opportunity to do something extraordinary. This true story lines up with the parable of the talents from Matt. where the one who didn’t use his gift lost it to someone else who was faithful with his gift.

If you still don’t feel that you have a gift from God might I suggest that you stand next to someone who you know does have a gift, but isn’t using it? Or if you are not using your gifts and you notice me sliding up next to you in the pew on Sunday morning…
